An effective surface design based on a conjugated polymer and silver nanowires for the detection of paraoxon in tap water and milk
Turan, Janset; Kesik, Melis; SÖYLEMEZ, SANİYE; Goker, Seza; Coskun, Sahin; Ünalan, Hüsnü Emrah; Toppare, Levent Kamil (2016-06-02)
In this study, a novel approach for the fabrication of a biosensor utilizing a conducting polymer and silver nanowires is reported. To obtain immobilization platform for butyrylcholinesterase (BChE), a graphite electrode was modified with the poly(5,6-bis(octyloxy)-4,7-di(thieno[3][3,2-b]thiophen-2yl)benzo[c][1,2,5]oxoadiazole) (PTTBO) which has a hydrophobic alkyl chain as the pendant group providing hydrophobic nature to the matrix. Since biomolecules contain both hydrophobic and hydrophilic parts in thei...
An efficient hybrid conventional method to fabricate nacre-like bulk nano-laminar composites
Ekiz, O. Oner; Dericioğlu, Arcan Fehmi; Kakisawa, Hideki (Elsevier BV, 2009-08-01)
Bulk nano-laminar composites were fabricated by a novel technique called Hot-press Assisted Slip Casting (HASC) which combines hot-pressing and slip-casting to improve alignment and volume fraction of the reinforcement. Alumina flakes were used as filler in an epoxy matrix. Microstructure of composites and alignment of flakes were characterized by Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM). Three point bending test and Vickers hardness test were done for mechanical characterization of composites. Flexural tests on ...
AN INTERFEROMETRIC TECHNIQUE FOR MEASURING MICRON LEVEL CLEARANCES FILLED WITH A LUBRICANT
Yildirim, Murat; Dursunkaya, Zafer; Okutucu Özyurt, Hanife Tuba (2010-10-20)
The aim of this study is to develop an interferometric technique to measure micron level clearances occurring in small piston-cylinder arrangements; such as hermetically sealed compressors. A Cartesian model of the piston cylinder arrangement is manufactured and lateral and vertical motions are generated via a step motor, and micrometers, respectively, to simulate the piston motion and the change of clearance during the motion. Experiments are conducted in air and a lubricant. Measurements show the importan...
A facile method for the recovery of ionic liquid and lignin from biomass pretreatment
DIBBLE, DEAN; LI, CHENLIN; LAN, SUN; GEORGE, ANTHE; CHENG, AURELIA; Persil Çetinkol, Özgül; BENKE, PETER; HOLMES, BRADLEY; SINGH, SEEMA; SIMMONS, BLAKE (2011-01-01)
In the biochemical conversion of lignocellulosic biomass to biofuels, the process of pretreatment is currently one of the most difficult and expensive operations. The use of ionic liquids (ILs) in biomass pretreatment has received considerable attention recently because of their effectiveness at decreasing biomass recalcitrance to subsequent enzymatic hydrolysis. In addition, ILs have the potential for decreasing the need for corrosive or toxic chemicals and associated waste streams that can be generated by...
An Efficient QAM Detector via Nonlinear Post-Distortion Based on FDE Bank Under PA Impairments
Salman, Murat Babek; Güvensen, Gökhan Muzaffer (2021-10-01)
In this paper, we propose a receiver structure for single-carrier uplink transmission with frequency domain equalization (FDE) that is exposed to power amplifier (PA) nonlinearities. A two-stage approach is adopted, in which linear communication channel is equalized at the first stage, and it is followed by post-distortion, where nonlinear distortion is reduced. In the literature, nonlinear processing techniques are proposed, which perform memoryless compensation of nonlinear distortion together with FDE. H...
