Bu makalenin amacı, psikoloji yazınında önemli bir yer edinmiş olan Dehşet Yönetimi Kuramı (DYK; Greenberg, Pyszczynski ve Solomon, 1986; Solomon, Greenberg ve Pyszczynski, 2004) üzerine yapılan çalışmaları derleyerek yazına kuramla ilgili Türkçe bir kaynak kazandırmaktır. Bu amaç doğrultusunda ele alınan bu derleme makalesi, dört bölümden oluşmaktadır. İlk bölümde, DYK temel sayıltıları, hipotezleri ve yöntemiyle açıklanmıştır. İkinci bölümde, kuramın çalışıldığı başlıca alanlar ve edinilen bulgulara dair fikir vermesi için örnek çalışmalardan bahsedilmiştir. Bu bölümde, DYK konusunda yapılan çalışmalar dört ana alt başlık altında toplanarak özetlenmiştir. Bunlar “Dehşet yönetiminde olumsuz yollarla baş etme: Gruplar arası ilişkiler üzerine DYK çalışmaları”, “Dehşet yönetiminde olumlu yollarla baş etme: Yardım etme, yakın ilişkiler ve sağlık üzerine DYK çalışmaları”, “Uygulamalı alanlara odaklanan DYK çalışmaları” ve “Bireysel ve kültürel farklılıklara odaklanan DYK çalışmaları” şeklinde sunulmuştur. Üçüncü bölümde, Türkiye’de yapılan DYK çalışmaları özetlenmiştir. Son bölümde ise, DYK’nın temel sayıltıları özetlenerek kuramın farklı ülkelerden araştırmacılarca, farklı deneysel desenler ve farklı araştırma örneklemleriyle çalışılmasının önemine değinilmiştir.
