Synthesis and characterization of titanosilicate ets-10 for potential photovoltaic applications
Galioğlu, Sezin; Akata Kurç, Burcu; Department of Micro and Nanotechnology (2010)
Different kinds of nanoparticles are widely used in optoelectronic and photovoltaic applications to harvest light to increase efficiency of devices. ETS-10, which is a synthetic microporous material consisting of –Ti-O-Ti-O-Ti- wires that run in the crystal in a and b directions, has been of interest in such applications due to its unique properties. In the current study, the synthesis conditions of ETS-10 were investigated in order to obtain pure ETS-10 crystals with the desired morphology. For this purpos...
Production and characterization of nano silver oxide for silver zinc batteries
Yurtseven, Özüm Öyküm; Aydınol, Mehmet Kadri; Nalbant Esentürk, Emren; Department of Micro and Nanotechnology (2013)
Rechargeable silver-zinc batteries have aroused interest and find various area of usage depending on their notably technical advantages over other battery systems including their high specific energy and high recharge efficiency. In this battery chemistry, silver oxide and metallic zinc are used as the positive and negative active materials respectively. Chemically stabilized particles with large surface areas are needed to reach high discharge rates for battery applications. The use of nanoparticles as ele...

Synthesis and mechanical properties of unsaturated polyester based nanocomposites
Inceoglu, AB; Yılmazer, Ülkü (2003-03-01)
Two classes of nanocomposites were synthesized using an unsaturated polyester resin as the matrix and sodium montmorillonite as well as an organically modified montmorillonite as the reinforcing agents. X-ray diffraction pattern of the composites showed that the interlayer spacing of the modified montmorillonite expanded from 1.25 nm. to 4.5 nm, indicating intercalation. Glass transition values of these composites increased from 72degreesC, in the unfilled unsaturated polyester, to 86degreesC in the composi...
