In this study, the effect of a new formulation in the form of powder for the purpose of decontamination of skin from biological agents is investigated. Moreover, the formulation has also been shown to induce coagulation by erythrocyte aggregation, which is of significance since decontamination against B agents and bleeding wounds could be dealt with simultaneously by applying single formulation.

DEVELOPMENT OF 3D PRINTED PECTIN AND GELATIN BASED BIOACTIVE SKIN GRAFTS
Bostancı, Nazlı Seray; Tezcaner, Ayşen; Hasırcı, Nesrin; Department of Biotechnology (2021-8-10)
The aim of this study was to develop an easily applicable and bioactive skin graft composed of methacrylated pectin (PeMA) and methacrylated gelatin (GelMA), containing curcumin and/or Vitamin-C as antimicrobial and healing accelerating agents, respectively. Grafts were prepared in slab, 3D printed and 3D bioprinted forms and different properties were evaluated. Preparation parameters were optimized using slabs having different compositions (PeMA:GelMA as P:G 1:1, 1:2 and 1:3, v/v). P1:G1 solution did not h...
Preparation of sericin based wound dressing and investigation of its biomaterial properties
Aktürk, Ömer; Keskin, Dilek; Department of Engineering Sciences (2009)
In this study, it was aimed to produce sericine/collagen composite membranes and to investigate their properties as a wound dressing. Different membrane compositions were prepared by casting and solvent evaporation method. After initial studies for optimization of ratios, membrane groups at two different thicknesses were prepared for each selected ratio and cross-linked with 3 % (w/v) glutaraldehyde (GTA). Considering the wound dressing requirements, equilibrium degree of swelling (EDS), water vapor transmi...
Investigation of the performance of colloidal LiFePO4 particles in suspension flow battery
Yıldız, Bayram; Aşkar, Yasemin; Coşkun, Elif; Maviş, Bora; Çınar, Simge (2021-06-12)
In this study, colloidal LiFePO4 particles were synthesized through solvothermal route. Effect of solvothermal method parameters on formation of colloidal LiFePO4 was investigated. Post-processing treatments were found effective to obtain non-aggregated colloidal particles. The rheological behavior of aqueous suspensions including electroactive material was examined in terms of salt, electroactive material concentration and carbon content. A three-electrode systems was used to analyze electrochemical perfor...
ANALYSIS OF THE DIELECTROPHORETIC (DEP) SPECTRA OF BIOLOGICAL CELLS
Caglayani, Zeynep; Sel, Kaan; Yalcin, Yagmur Demircan; Sukas, Ozlem Sardan; Külah, Haluk (2017-06-22)
This study presents an approach for analyzing the dielectrophoretic (DEP) spectra of biological cells without ascertaining their membrane and cytoplasmic properties. DEP spectrum device with reciprocal V-shaped planar-electrodes was utilized to obtain DEP spectra information of cells. Integrating electric field simulations based on a strong theory with the experimental data enables determination of the DEP spectrum at a range of frequencies, for the first in the literature. The proposed method is tested wit...
EVALUATION OF THE CHITOSAN-COATING EFFECTIVENESS ON A DENTAL TITANIUM ALLOY IN TERMS OF MICROBIAL AND FIBROBLASTIC ATTACHMENT AND THE EFFECT OF AGING
Kalyoncuoglu, Ulku Tugba; Yilmaz, Bengi; Gungor, Serap; Evis, Zafer; UYAR, PEMBEGÜL; AKCA, GÜLÇİN; Kansu, Gulay (2015-01-01)
The aim of this study was to obtain a biocompatible and antimicrobial implant surface by coating Ti6Al4V with chitosan which can be used to create a smooth transmucosal region for a faster and better wound healing and an increased bioactivity. Ti6Al4V plates were first abraded and ultrasonically cleaned and then coated with chitosan. In order to simulate the conditions of an oral environment, a group of coated plates were treated in a thermocycle apparatus. The coatings were evaluated with SEM, EDS, XRD and...
