Characterization of effluents from chlorine dioxide substitution bleaching and oxygen-reinforced extraction
Yetiş, Ülkü; Gokcay, CF; Sahin, SM (1997-01-01)
The effects of chlorine dioxide substitution for elemental chlorine in the chlorination stage, aimed at the minimization of chlorinated organics and subsequent oxygen reinforcement in the proceeding extraction stage on the characteristics of bleaching effluents have been examined. The characteristics of the effluents were assessed in terms of molecular weight distribution by gel filtration, so that alternatives for the treatment of these effluents can be proposed. The analysis of chlorination and extraction...
Characterization of humic materials extracted from hazelnut husk and hazelnut husk amended soils
Cimen, Funda; Ok, Sonay Sozudogru; Kayran, Ceyhan; Demirci, Şahinde; Ozenc, Damla Bender; Ozenc, Nedim (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 2007-06-01)
This study was carried out to determine effects of composted hazelnut husk (CHH) on some chemical properties of soil and soil humic acid (HA). Compost application increases organic matter (OM) content of the soil considerably, OM value of 3.18% became 3.89% in 3 years time interval. Before application of compost, the soil pH was found to be 5.37, while after compost application it became 5.61. FTIR characteristics of humic acid/humic acid-like materials extracted from the original hazelnut husk, composted h...
Characterization of curcumin incorporated guar gum/orange oil antimicrobial emulsion films
Aydogdu, Ayca; Radke, Clayton J.; Bezci, Semih; Kırtıl, Emrah (Elsevier BV, 2020-04-01)
Edible films are manufactured from natural, renewable, nontoxic, and biodegradable polymers and are safe alternatives to plastic food packaging. Despite ongoing research, biopolymer-based edible films still are not at a quality to ensure total commercial replacement of synthetic packaging materials. The study aims to compare the effectiveness of some novel methods employed to improve edible film properties. These include dispersion of orange oil (1% & 2% v/v) and/or curcumin into guar gum (GG), glycerol and...

Characterization of Green Tea Extract Loaded Liposomes
Dag, Damla; Öztop, Halil Mecit (2016-08-25)
Green tea extract was encapsulated into liposomes to enhance bioavailability and stability of catechins that are the main bioactive compounds and to protect the functional properties of green tea. Green tea extract (w/w 0.1%) was encapsulated by dispersing 1 % (w/w) soy lecithin through high pressure homogenization and ultrasonication techniques. Effect of homogenization type and pH of the dispersing medium was investigated. Mean particle size, total phenolic content by FolinCiocalteu Method and antioxidant...
