The purpose of the present study is to examine the possible mediator role of divergent aspects of perceived social support (family, friends, and significant other) in the relationship between difficulties in emotion regulation and suicide tendency. Conveniently selected 641 college students (430 female, 211 male) living in the different regions of Turkey constituted the sample of the present study. The findings indicated that perceived family, friends, and significant other support mediated the relationship between difficulties in emotion regulation and suicide tendency, with perceived family support being the strongest mediator. The entire model explained 51% of the variance in suicide tendency among college students. Regarding suicide tendency, males reported significantly higher scores than females. Our findings underscore that although difficulties in emotion regulation posed a significant risk factor for suicide tendency, perceived social support from family, friends, and significant other remained resilience factors that highlight the need to promote university students’ social support systems.

Modeling coastal Güzelyurt (Morphou) aquifer in northern Cyprus for mitigation of groundwater depletion through managed aquifer recharge
Demir, Cansu; Fanta, Debebe; Akıntuğ, Bertuğ; Ünlü, Kahraman (2022-08-01)
© 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.Groundwater depletion is considered a global problem. Coastal aquifers in arid and semiarid areas of the Mediterranean basin constitute typical examples of depleted aquifers. Güzelyurt (Morphou) Aquifer, the most important water resource for northern Cyprus, faces the problems of groundwater depletion and degradation of water quality near the coast due to significant amounts of groundwater extraction to satisfy the high demand....
The effect of audio description on film comprehension of individuals with visual impairment: A case study in Turkey

© The Author(s) 2021.The present study aimed to investigate the extent to which audio description contributes to the visually impaired individuals’ comprehension of a film by examining the visually impaired and sighted participants’ comprehension of two versions of the same film, one with and the other without supplementary audio description. The results of the study showed that the visually impaired participants were able to comprehend and narrate the events to the same extent as the sighted participants d...
Friction space and the re(dis)covery of urban roads
Baş Bütüner, Funda; Guneri, Gizem Deniz (2022-01-01)
© 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Nature Limited. For the majority of cities worldwide, car-based mobility has begun to be replaced by alternative mobility modes. This process has augmented the lens for infrastructural topics, and placed infrastructure's latent potentiality at the forefront. Car-dependent infrastructure, however, persists in and conditions urbanism in many others. For such cities, the encounter of roads with the city and human-scale spaces raises critical ground in n...
Development of a three-dimensional basin model to evaluate the site effects in the tectonically active near-fault region of Gölyaka basin, Düzce, Turkey
Yousefi-Bavil, Karim; KOÇKAR, MUSTAFA KEREM; Akgün, Haluk (2022-01-01)
© 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Nature B.V.The high seismicity and tectonic activity of the study area located in a near-fault region in Gölyaka, Düzce, results in a bedrock geometry highly complex in the sense of faulting and deformation. This makes this area very challenging in terms of a site response study that would aid seismic hazard assessment. This study develops a basin model to evaluate the site effects in the tectonically formed Plio-Quaternary fluvial sedimentary layer...
