The fiber content of this material can be used for production of hydrolytic enzymes such as cellulase and hemicellulases, which are needed to saccharify lignocellulosic biomass prior to ethanol fermentation. Although DDGS based media provides sugars and fibers for the enzyme production, the addition of media elements such as salts and nitrogen sources can further enhance enzyme production. Therefore, different salts such as KH2PO4, CaCl2·2H2O, MgSO4·7H2O, FeSO4·7H2O, CoCl2·6H2O, MnSO4·H2O, and nitrogen sources such as ammonium sulfate, peptone and yeast extract were evaluated for their effect on enzyme production in this study. Four fungal strains, three Aspergillus niger and one Trichoderma reesei were selected for evaluation of the effect of nutrients on enzyme production. Minerals did not have a significant effect on enzyme production (p<0.05). Ammonium Sulfate was a better nitrogen source as compared to peptone and yeast extract. Yeast extract improved the cellulase production (0.38 IU/ml) for A. niger (NRRL 1956) as compared to peptone (0.29 IU/ml). However, maximum cellulase productions of 0.42 IU/ml and 0.45 IU/ml were obtained by A. niger (NRRL 330) and A. niger (NRRL 567), respectively in presence of ammonium sulfate. Ammonium sulfate, peptone and yeast extract addition led to maximum hemicellulase production as 49.5, 42.49, 19.41 IU/ml by A. niger (NRRL 330), respectively. In conclusion, the results clearly demonstrated the positive effect of ammonium sulfate on cellulase production for two high enzyme producers.

Optimization of nitrogen sources for the maximum production of cellulases and xylanases by Aspergillus Niger strains
Iram, Attia; Çekmecelioğlu, Deniz; Demirci, Ali (2021-01-01)
© ASABE 2021. All rights reserved.Hydrolytic enzymes such as cellulases and xylanases are required for second-generation bioethanol production. Distillers Dried Grains with Solubles (DDGS) has high fiber content which can be used to produce such enzymes by various fungal species. Aspergillus niger is one of the top producers of hydrolytic enzymes. The addition of nitrogen sources can further enhance enzyme production in DDGS based media. Therefore, in this study, two A. niger strains, NRRL 330 and NRRL 567,...
Gaze Aversion In Conversational Settings: An Investigation Based On Mock Job Interview
Acartürk, Cengiz; Nawrocki, Piotr; Sniezynski, Bartlomiej; Jarosz, Mateusz; Usal, Kerem Alp (2021-01-01)
© 2021. Journal of Eye Movement Research All Rights Reserved. We report the results of an empirical study on gaze aversion during dyadic human-to-human conversation in an interview setting. To address various methodological challenges in assessing gaze-to-face contact, we followed an approach where the experiment was conducted twice, each time with a different set of interviewees. In one of them the interviewer’s gaze was tracked with an eye tracker, and in the other the interviewee’s gaze was tracked. The g...

© 2022. L&H Scientific Publishing, LLC. All Rights Reserved. The impulsive differential equations with unpredictable perturbations are under investigation. The definition of the discontinuous unpredictable function with the discrete unpredictable set of discontinuity moments is introduced. The existence and uniqueness of asymptotically stable discontinuous unpredictable solutions for quasi linear systems are proved. Examples with simulations are given to illustrate the results.

This was accomplished by using eye tracking technology and by applying multimedia learning design and visual design principles to science textbooks. Eye tracking based testing was employed to evaluate the effects of multimedia learning and visual design principles on students’ studying process as they int...
Bacterial cellulase production using grape pomace hydrolysate by shake-flask submerged fermentation
Kurt, Ayse Sultan; Çekmecelioğlu, Deniz (2021-01-01)
© 2021, The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany, part of Springer Nature.Grape pomace is a lignocellulosic waste of wine industry, which comprises high moisture content, cellulose, and hemicellulose, making it a viable substrate to microorganisms. Also, it is a potential substrate for bio-products such as enzymes and biofuels. Thus, the aim of the study was at the optimization of solid to liquid ratio (w/v), pH, and fermentation period for maximal cellulase of Bacillus subtili...
