Effect of Polymers on the Rheological Properties of KCl Polymer Type Drilling Fluid
Kök, Mustafa Verşan (2005-05-01)
In the course of this research, the effect of two polymers (xanthan gum and polyanionic cellulose) on the rheological properties of KCl/polymer type drilling fluids was investigated. Non-Newtonian drilling fluids are conventionally characterized by rheological models (Bingham Plastic, Power Law, Casson, Herchel-Bulkley and Robertson-Stiff). In this research, forty-five KCl/polymer data sets of varying compositions are prepared. Polymer addition to the system has affected the model and caused a variation of ...
Effect of calcium fluoride on mechanical behavior and sinterability of nano-hydroxyapatite and titania composites
KUTBAY, IŞIL; Yilmaz, Bengi; Evis, Zafer; USTA, Metin (2014-11-01)
Composites of nano-hydroxyapatite (HA) - titania (TiO2) with or without calcium fluoride (CaF2) were synthesized and sintered at 900 degrees C, 1100 degrees C, and 1300 degrees C. The composites were studied to assess the effect of CaF2 addition on the sinterability, structure, functional groups, morphology and mechanical behavior of the material. The resultant composites were characterized by XRD, ATR-FTIR, SEM and microhardness measurement, respectively. It was seen that the addition of CaF2 into HA-TiO2 ...
Effect of CNT impregnation on the mechanical and thermal properties of C/C-SiC composites
Tulbez, Simge; ESEN, ZİYA; Dericioğlu, Arcan Fehmi (2020-06-01)
The present study investigates the effect of additional carbon source, in the form of carbon nanotubes (CNTs), on mechanical and thermal properties of carbon fiber reinforced silicon carbide (C/C-SiC) ceramic matrix composites (CMC) produced by liquid silicon infiltration (LSI) technique. The CNTs used in this study were impregnated into the C/C preforms before the liquid silicon infiltration stage. The results showed that the addition of excess carbon to the C/C preforms in the form of CNTs enhanced Si inf...
Effect of compatibilizers on the gas separation performance of polycarbonate membranes
Şen, Değer; Yılmaz, Levent; Kalıpçılar, Halil; Department of Chemical Engineering (2003)
In this study, the effect of compatibilizers on the gas separation performance of polycarbonate (PC) membranes was investigated. Membranes were prepared by solvent evaporation method. They were characterized by single gas permeability measurements of O2, N2, H2 and CO2 as well as scanning electron microscopy (SEM), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and Fourier transform infrared spectrometry (FTIR). Membranes containing 0.5 to 10 w% p-nitroaniline (pNA) were prepared to study the effect of compatibili...
Effect of microstructure on the tribological properties of apatite-wollastonite glass ceramic
Park, Jong-Ee; Öztürk, Abdullah; You, Sang-Hee; Park, Sam-Sik; Bae, Won-Tae; Shin, Dong-Woo (2008-06-01)
A relationship between microstructure and the tribological properties of Apatite-Wollastonite glass ceramics (A-W GC), fabricated by different techniques of melt casting and powder packing processing, was studied. The surface crystallization of wollastonite caused a unique surface strengthening in an A-W GC prepared by the melt casting process. The wear rate did not vary between the free surface and interior in an A-W GC made by the powder packing process, whereas an increase of the wear rate with an increa...
