The karyotype of Pseudophoxinus antalyae was analyzed using G-banding, C-banding, Ag-NOR staining, and Q-banding. Chromosome analysis of this species, which lives in the Berdan River and Berdan Dam Lake, was performed with the air-drying technique, using gill and fin epithelium cells. The diploid chromosome number of P antalyae was determined to be 2n = 50, comprising 16 metacentric, 14 submetacentric, 12 subtelocentric, and 8 acrocentric (NF = 92) chromosomes. The largest chromosome pair of the complements was characteristically a submetacentric. The nucleolar organizer regions (NORs) were apparently located in subtelocentric chromosome pairs. The karyotype of P. antalyae is reported for the first time.

Cytogenetic Variation of Geographically Isolated Four Populations of Garra rufa [(Heckel, 1843) (Pisces, Cyprinidae)] in Turkey
Karahan, Arzu (2009-10-01)
This paper describes the karyotype analysis of Garra rufa samples with G-, C- banding and Ag-NOR staining techniques from four distinct localities (Mersin, Hatay, Kahramanmaras and Sivas) in Turkey. The diploid chromosomes number was found as 50 in females of both Mersin and Sivas regions samples. The karyotype was determined as 26M + 10SM + 8ST + 6A chromosome and fundamental number (NF) 94 in Mersin and 28M + 14SM + 4ST + 4A chromosome (NF=96) in Sivas regions samples. Diploid chromosomes number both Hata...
Cytogenetic Analysis of Garra variabilis Heckel 1843 Pisces Cyprinidae from Savur Stream Mardin Turkey
Karahan, Arzu (2010-09-01)
In this study cytogenetic analysis were carried out on Garra variabilis (Heckel, 1843) individuals from Savur stream (Mardin). The karyIn this study cytogenetic analysis were carried out on Garra variabilis (Heckel, 1843) individuals from Savur stream (Mardin). The karyotype of G. variabilis was analyzed using G-banding, C-banding, Ag-NOR staining and Q-banding techniques. Diploid chromosomes number of specimens was determined as 2n=102. However, two karyotype formulae were identified in the G. variabdis sp...
Chromosomal differentiation between populations of Clarias gariepinus (Burchell, 1822) from the Goksu Delta and Orontes River (Turkey)
Karahan, Arzu (2011-01-01)
The karyotype of Clarias gariepinus was described by means of G-banding, C-banding, Q-banding, and Ag-NORs (NORs) staining in this study. Samples were collected from 2 regions of Turkey: the Goksu Delta and Orontes River. Although samples from both regions had the same diploid chromosome number and fundamental arm number, (2n = 56, FN = 100), they had remarkable differences in karyotype formula and distribution of rDNA sites, according to silver nitrate staining and G-banding. While the karyotype formula fo...
Differential expressions and functions of phosphodiesterase enzymes in different regions of the rat heart

Phosphodiesterase enzymes (PDEs) are responsible for the adjustment of cyclic nucleotide levels. Alterations in PDE expressions in different tissues cause conflicts between functional and clinical effects of PDE inhibitors. Therefore, the aim of this study was to investigate the gene and protein expressions and the functional role of PDEs in atrium and ventricle of rat heart The expressions of PDEs were examined in cardiac intact tissues and enzymatically isolated cells. The effects of PDE1-5 inhibitors (vi...
Proteomics of phanerochaete chrysosporium under heavy metal stress
Yıldırım, Volkan; Özcengiz, Gülay; Department of Biology (2014)
In this study, time-dependent heavy metal response of the white rot fungus P. chrysosporium was analyzed by using 2D-PAGE-MS for soluble cytosolic fraction and GeLC-MS approach for membrane enriched fraction. After the 2D-PAGE-MS analysis, a total of 123 protein spots were detected as differentially expressed for Cu-exposed samples and 89 of them were identifed. Further analysis revealed that the 89 protein spots are the products of the 58 distinct ORFs. Overall, strongly up-regulated proteins included (i) ...
