STUDIES ON IMMOBILIZATION OF UREASE IN GELATIN BY CROSS-LINKING
SUNGUR, S; ELCIN, YM; Akbulut, Ural (Elsevier BV, 1992-01-01)
Urease enzyme was immobilized in photographic gelatin by chemical cross-linking using formaldehyde, glutaraldehyde and chromium (III) acetate. The effects of enzyme and cross-linker concentrations, temperature, incubation time and pH on urea hydrolysis were investigated. Effect of reuse on the activity of immobilized enzyme was also studied. Glutaraldehyde (0.004 M) was the most suitable cross-linker; relative activities within 2.5 months after 24 reuses were stable (about 78%).
Studies on polylactide nanocomposites with polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane
Meyva Zeybek, Yelda.; Kaynak, Cevdet; Department of Polymer Science and Technology (2020)
The main purpose of the first part of this thesis was to investigate influences of three parameters on the mechanical and thermal properties of the polylactide (PLA) matrix nanocomposites filled with polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane (POSS) particles. For the first parameter of “Filler Content”, nanocomposites with 1, 3, 5, 7 wt% basic POSS structure were compared. For the second parameter of “Functional Group”, basic POSS structure having only nonpolar isobutyl groups were compared with three other func...

Studies Towards the Preparation of Functional Cellulose Microspheres with an Affinity Towards Bacterial Cells
Demirel, Kaan; Akbulut, Doğan; Yılmaz, Ozan; Türkyılmaz, Serhan (2021-04-08)
Cellulose microspheres (CMs, diameters 10-1000 m) have been used as stationary phases in chromatography, substrates for ion exchange applications, supports for protein immobilization and solid-phase synthesis, and drug loading and release materials.2 Furthermore CMs are biocompatible and have been used in many biomedical applications as varied as blood filtration3,4 and the dressing of wounds. Blood is normally sterile and the presence of bacteria in blood is a condition known as bacteremia. Bacteremia can...
