S-band hybrid 4 bit phase shifter of 22.5° phase resolution is designed, simulated, fabricated and measured. Bits are separately designed to maintain low phase errors and return loss. In this manner, fabrication and measurements are performed for each bit. These measurements are carried on since each bit reached to its acceptable level of operation. According to the outcomes and acquired knowledge, layout for optimum cascading of 4 bits is developed. Measurement results are compared with simulations and repeatability is tested to observe if it is convenient to use in mass production. Designs and simulations are performed by using ADS2008®. © 2010 IEEE.

Wideband phase shifter design using lange coupler and radial stubs
Boyacioǧlu, Gökhan; Demir, Şimşek (2010-12-20)
In this study, four wideband phase shifter circuits are designed and simulated for 6-18 GHz frequency range. Phase shifters are separately designed in order to get 11.25°, 22.5°, 45° and 90° phase shifts with minimum phase error and low return losses. Thin film production technique will be used to fabricate individual phase shifter circuits. Designs and EM simulations are performed by using Sonnet and ADS2008®. © 2010 IEEE.
X band High Power Ferrite Phase Shifter
Altan, Hİ; Aydın Çivi, Hatice Özlem; Demir, Şimşek (2010-08-27)
X-Band high power, low loss and fast switching twin-toroid type ferrite phase shifter is designed and fabricated. Differential phase shift (DPS), insertion loss, high power characteristics and impedance matching are determined and optimized using finite element solver in CST Microwave Studio. The effect of high order modes propagating in the structure is examined and methods to suppress these modes are investigated. <;0.8dB insertion loss and >15dB return loss is obtained for all phase states and operating ...
1-6 GHz UWB phase shifter design and implementation with surface micromachining
Tokgöz, Korkut Kaan; Çetintepe, Çaǧri; Demir, Şimşek (2012-07-02)
An Ultra-wideband (UWB), 1-to-6 GHz, 4-bit phase shifter design is presented. The proposed phase shifter utilizes lumped-element, three-stage all-pass network to achieve UWB phase characteristics. Ideal predesign of the phase shifter is done successfully by following the three-stage all-pass network design procedure described in this paper. Following the ideal predesign, circuit elements are implemented using lumped planar spiral inductors (PSIs) and Metal-Insulator-Metal (MIM) capacitors for each phase shi...
High performance closed-loop analog readout circuit for capacitive MEMS accelerometers
Terzioğlu, Yunus; Akın, Tayfun; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2015)
In this thesis, a closed-loop analog readout circuit for capacitive MEMS accelerometers is introduced. The detailed analysis of the dynamics of the proposed accelerometer is presented along with the associated simulation models. The theoretical investigation of each building block of the accelerometer is also presented in detail and supported by the corresponding formulas. The implemented accelerometer is shown to satisfy the estimated performance parameters with measurements conducted using various test se...
On Miniaturization and Performance Improvement of Planar Wideband Bandpass Filters Without Coupled Lines
Alicioglu, Bulent; Yıldırım, Nevzat (2009-10-01)
Two classical approaches are compared in various respects for the design of wideband planar BPF's without parallel coupled lines, namely, BPF's designed by pole placement with contributing Unit Elements (UE) and inverter coupled resonator filters designed from LP prototypes. It is shown that the circuit obtained by direct BP synthesis is a special case of inverter coupled filter with inverters converted into single Unit Elements. It is also shown that if the inverters are converted into odd number of UE's t...
