Polymerization of bis(2-bromo-4,6-dichlorophenoxo)bis(pyridine) copper (II) complex was achieved in dimethylformamide by electrooxidation. A cyclic voltammogram (CV) of the complex was obtained in dimethylformamide in advance. Constant potential yielded polymers in anode compartment only under nitrogen atmosphere and air. In the final polymer product, incorporation of neither the ligand nor the copper was observed and the post-polymerization proceeded in the absence of current. The structural analyses of the polymers were done by C-13 n.m.r., H-1 n.m.r., FT1.r. spectroscopy, differential scanning calorimetry (d.s.c.) and dipole moment measurements. The molecular weight of the polymer was determined by cryoscopic method. The poly(dihalophenylene oxides) obtained at different potentials were found to be similar in structure and both 1,2 and 1,4 catenations took place at roughly equal rates.

SYNTHESIS AND CHARACTERIZATION OF POLY(DICHLOROPHENYLENE OXIDE)S BASED ON THE ELECTROOXIDATION OF BIS(2,4,6-TRICHLOROPHENOXO)BIS(PYRIDINE)COPPER(II) COMPLEX
SEN, S; KISAKUREK, D (Elsevier BV, 1993-01-01)
Electroinitiated polymerization of bis(2,4,6-trichlorophenoxo)bis(pyridine)copper(II) complex was achieved in dimethylformamide by constant potential electrolysis under air and N2. The polymers obtained at several potentials were characterized by H-1 n.m.r., C-13 n.m.r., FTi.r. and d.s.c., and were found to be branched. The kinetics of the polymerization were followed by in situ cyclic voltammetry measurements at 13.5 and 20-degrees-C during electrolysis. As found for the thermal polymerization of this comp...
POLYMERIZATION OF BIS(PYRIDINE)BIS-(2,4,6-TRIBROMOPHENOXO)COPPER(II) COMPLEX (PY2CU(TBRP)2) BY ELECTROOXIDATION AND STRUCTURAL CHARACTERIZATION BY H-1-NMR, C-13-NMR, AND FTIR SPECTROSCOPIES
SEN, S; KISAKUREK, D; Toppare, Levent Kamil (Informa UK Limited, 1993-01-01)
Electroinitiated polymerization of bis(2,4,6-tribromophenoxo)-bis(pyridine)copper(II) complex was achieved in dimethylformamide-tetrabutylammonium tetrafluoroborate solvent-electrolyte couple under air or nitrogen at room temperature by constant potential electrolysis. Polymerization conditions were based on the peak potentials measured by cyclic voltammetry. The structural analyses of the polymers were done by H-1-NMR, C-13-NMR, and FTIR spectral analyses along with molecular weight measurements by cryosco...
POLYMERIZATION OF BIS(TRICHLOROPHENOXO) ETHYLENEDIAMINE COPPER (II) COMPLEX BY ELECTRO-OXIDATION
Yiğit, S.; Kısakürek, D.; Türker, L; Toppare, Levent Kamil; Akbulut, Ural (Elsevier BV, 1989-02-01)
Electroinitiated polymerization of bis(trichlorophenoxo) ethylenediamine copper (II) complex was carried out in dimethyl-formamide at various anodic peak potentials of the complex. The oxidation and reduction peak potentials were determined by cyclic voltammetry. These potentials were measured in tetrabutylammonium fluoroborate-dimethylformamide supporting electrolyte-solvent couple at room temperature. Polymerization reactions were carried out under air and nitrogen atmospheres using a constant potential a...
RADIATION-INDUCED AND ELECTROINITIATED POLYMERIZATION OF ALLYLBENZENE
SOUSY, K; USANMAZ, A; Önal, Ahmet Muhtar (Elsevier BV, 1990-08-01)
Radiation-induced and electroinitiated polymerization of allylbenzene has been investigated. Radiation-induced polymerization at room temperature was found to give mainly dimers and trimers with a maximum yield of 5%. Electroinitiated polymerization of the monomer yielded insoluble polymer films on the surface of the anode together with low molecular weight polymers in the bulk solution. The effects of temperature and monomer concentration on the rate of electroinitiated polymerization were also studied. Th...
Polymerization of 1,2-epoxy-4-epoxyethylcyclohexane
Usanmaz, Ali; Asaid, Adel (Wiley, 1986-12)
Radiation‐induced polymerization of 1,2‐epoxy‐4‐epoxyethylcyclohexane (EECH) has been carried out at different temperatures in solid and liquid states. Activation energy was calculated from Arrhenius plot and ionic mechanism was proposed. Molecular weights for some polymer samples were determined by cryscopic method and compared with their intrinsic viscosities. Cationic polymerization of EECH initiated by BF3 · O(C2H5)2 and anionic polymerization initiated by NaOH are also studied. Two epoxy rings can be o...
